Art Experiences In Isolation(2)

By Caitlin Dawkes

This is the apple that lives in our tupperware container. It is not this bright or pink in real life; but that is what the virtual space is for, exaggerating the everyday and twisting reality into whatever we want it to be.

*****

Exploring the boundaries of the Apple and how it can be manipulated, distorted, reformed and moulded into a contemporary art object.

In the context of the pandemic and almost a year of restrictions, many of us have a newfound appreciation for the mundanity of life - yearning for those experiences, objects and moments that often went overlooked and disregarded. Within this series, I am highlighting the art object within the mundanity through photogrammetry, digital spaces, imagery, and writing. I am rethinking and reframing random everyday objects that I find dotted around my house into contemporary art objects. The Mundane Art Experience is responding to how we are currently living in a time where the mug you drink out of everyday becomes the closest thing to a physical art experience in isolation.
